The MClimber team is composed of students from diverse educational backgrounds. From electrical engineers to economics students, all are united under the same goal. Last year, MClimber finished in the top five at the competition held during the Ansari X-Prize in Las Cruces, NM. The team received significant attention, including being part of a special on NOVA.
Team members handle all aspects of the project, from the physical design of the climber to planning and budgeting for the entire competition cycle. The team is organized into three separate divisions overseen by an administrative unit and faculty advisors: Power and Electrical Systems, Structures, and Business. MClimber is a unit of the Space Systems Fabrication Lab (S3FL), which supports a number of high-profile projects at the University of Michigan. With approximately 150 students and dedicated support from faculty and industry, S3FL provides a strong support network for the team.
